The AI department of the University of Groningen gave us, four master students, the opportunity to start a big research project to explore the possibilities of an autonomous robotic blimp. The aim of this project is to transform a remote controlled, helium filled, toy blimp into a flying robot that can navigate and communicate on its own. We are going to equip our Zeppy with a camera which can be used for navigation and transmission of information to a ground station. The project will include both hardware and software problems which we consider a great challenge. In this weblog you can see and read about every progression we make. Accomplished milestones will be reported, including a lot of pictures, but also problems, frustrations and other drawbacks. If you have any thoughts, tips or comments about our work, please be welcome to leave a message on our weblog!
